Downtown Chelsea
Chelsea, Michigan

DDR lead a team of three consulting firms to develop a new downtown revitalization plan for the Village of Chelsea in 1990. The downtown retail space was 40% vacant before the improvements, but since the project was completed in 1993, it has been 100% occupied. The plan created additional parking on the west side of Main Street which was instrumental, along with streetscape improvements, in attracting new businesses such as the Common Grill restaurant and Jeff Daniel's Purple Rose Theater. The work featured heavy public involvement.

DDR has done two parking studies to expand parking in the village since 1993.
